Dear Fellow Floridian,

This week, I proudly fought for Florida families on the Senate floor overnight to try and stop YOUR taxpayer dollars from being sent to Hamas through the Palestinian Authority or to pay Ukrainian politicians’ paychecks and secure their border before we do our own. Unfortunately, Senate Leadership’s $95 billion foreign aid bill passed thanks to Senate Democrats and a minority of Republicans.

Floridians expect Washington to fight for their interests, and I voted against this bad bill because it fails to address the threats to our great nation responsibly. Bottom line: I will never vote to prioritize the national security of Ukraine over the national security of the United States. Every American should be disgusted with what is happening in Washington.

The more President Biden signs bills like this one into law, the worse already soaring prices are going to get and the more threats we will face from the invasion at our southern border. This administration is taking away folks’ chance at the American Dream, and I won’t stop fighting until Washington returns to fiscal sanity.

I also am fighting for our great friend Israel and Florida’s incredible Jewish community. That’s why I gave Senate Democrats yet another opportunity to pass my Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Act, which would ensure no taxpayer dollars go toward funding Hamas’ terror under the guise of Palestinian aid and require the president to certify there are no hostages in Gaza. Unfortunately, they blocked it for the third time since 2021.

Sincerely,

Senate Democrats Block Vote on Sen. Rick Scott Bill to Stop Taxpayer Money Funding Hamas

Senator Rick Scott spoke on the Senate floor regarding the Senate’s ongoing foreign aid negotiations. Senator Scott requested that the Senate hold a vote on adding his Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Act to the supplemental funding bill to ensure no taxpayer dollars go toward funding Hamas’ terror under the guise of Palestinian aid and requires the president to certify there are no hostages in Gaza. Nearly a year ago, Senator Scott reintroduced his Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Actwhich was introduced following Biden’s State Department’s admission that American taxpayer dollars could potentially fund Hamas terrorists through Palestinian aid. Earlier this Congress and back in 2021, Senate Democrats blocked the passage of this bill. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats blocked its passage again today.

Sen. Rick Scott on CPI Report: Bidenflation is Forcing Floridians To Go Without

Following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Senator Rick Scott released the below statement highlighting the need to implement substantive fiscal reforms to end the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by the Biden administration’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda. January’s CPI data shows that there has been a significant rise in inflation during Biden’s presidency, with CPI increasing 3.1% over the year in January 2024. Since Biden took office, inflation is up 17.9% marking the 34th consecutive month inflation is above 3%.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Fiscal responsibility is a top priority for me here in Washington, but unfortunately that is not the case for most in Congress and it’s certainly not the case for the Biden administration. Prices have continued to increase over the past three years and American families cannot catch a break. My office heard from a resident of Tampa; they are worried they will lose their home and have trouble feeding their family. The rising costs of their everyday goods, like food and gas, are hurting them and forcing them to make tough choices. This is the case for families all over Florida and the country, and it must stop. This administration is taking away folks’ chance at the American Dream, and I won’t stop fighting until Washington returns to fiscal sanity.”

Sen. Rick Scott: I Voted Against Borrowing $95 Billion to Fund Hamas & Pay Ukrainian Politicians

Senator Rick Scott spoke on the Senate floor for nearly two hours fighting to stop Senate Leadership’s doomed, $95 BILLION foreign aid legislation. This bill, which ultimately passed without the support of a majority of the Senate Republican Conference, fails to address the invasion on the U.S. southern border and would allow President Biden to send tens of billions in borrowed money into Hamas-dominated Gaza and to pay the salaries of Ukrainian politicians.

During consideration of this legislation, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer allowed zero amendment votes and Democrats blocked Senator Scott’s request that the Senate hold a vote on adding his Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Act. This marks the third time that Senate Democrats have blocked this bill from consideration or passage in the Senate.

Sen. Rick Scott to NIH: Harvard Plagiarism Cannot Lead to Waste of Taxpayer Money

Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to Monica M. Bertagnolli, M.D., Director of the National Institute of Health (NIH) requesting information about the amount of taxpayer money potentially wasted on fraudulent research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. The Dana-Farber Institute works closely through an alliance with Harvard Medical School and many of Dana-Farber’s researchers are Harvard professors—some of which have come under investigation for plagiarism. Senator Scott is asking the NIH to investigate these claims to ensure no taxpayer dollars are being used to fund fraudulent or plagiarized research.
