Dear Fellow Floridian, While Democrats are just now waking up to Joe Biden’s clear incompetence, familiesin our state and all across America have been dealing with his Bidenomics disaster every time we’ve gone to the store and pump for the last three years. Inflation is up 20.1% since Biden took office, meaning his inability to lead isn’t just embarrassing for our country, it’s destructive and painful for the millions of American families that can’t keep up with his high prices and record inflation. The American Dream is further out of reach, and when I think about a family like mine growing up that lived in public housing and struggled to make ends meet every day, I know there is no way they can survive in Biden’s economy. That’s why I get so mad about what is going on in Washington, D.C. when these massive spending bills are shoved down our throats without any consideration for what it means for hardworking families — the ones like mine growing up — who are getting kicked in the teeth every day with skyrocketing inflation and fewer full-time jobs. And yet the federal government continues to sleepwalk into a massive fiscal buzz saw. We must force Washington to admit its failures, cut the overzealous spending that has fueled inflation and hurt families with skyrocketing prices, and rein in Biden’s massive government and the burdensome regulatory environment that is suffocating businesses and destroying opportunity. We did it when I was governor of Florida, and we can do it in Washington, too. I believe that we can fully fund the things that matter in government while getting rid of the waste that has caused the problems before us. The American people are fed up and demanding real leadership to save this country. That’s why I am fighting like hell to put America back on the path of fiscal sanity, balance the budget, and end Biden and the Democrats’ reckless spending and enormous debt nightmare that is killing opportunity for Florida families. Senator Rick Scott participated in a panel at the National Conservatism Conference with Senators Ron Johnson and Mike Lee on the topic of “Weaponization of Government and the Broken Senate,” which was moderated by the Chairman of the Conservative Partnership Institute, former Senator Jim DeMint. Following the panel, which focused on Senator Scott’s work to advance conservative policies in the Senate, the shameful weaponization of government by Democrats, wasteful spending and the skyrocketing inflation crisis, Senator Scott released the following statement. Senator Rick Scott said, “The federal government is being weaponized like never before, and because we have a broken Senate, there is little being done by Republican leaders right now to stop it. Change is not popular in Washington, but it’s exactly what we need and why I am running for Republican Leader to create a dramatic sea change in Washington and make it work for hardworking Americans first. Our country is at a crossroads—inflation is rampant, spending is out of control, and folks are feeling the impacts of the reckless government policies because they are the ones getting stuck with the tab. I grew up in public housing. I remember watching my mom work multiple jobs to make ends meet. She worked herself to exhaustion just to make sure we could eat something, and some nights we still went to bed hungry because there just wasn’t enough to make it work. The way things are currently failing in Washington is hurting folks like my family growing up the most because every time reckless spending pushes inflation higher, they are getting kicked in the teeth with rising prices and less opportunity. It is unacceptable. It is time to make Washington work for you, get this country back on track, and finally put an end to the complete failure the Biden administration has brought upon this country.” Read more HERE. — On the third anniversary of the Cuban protests for freedom, ‘Patria y Vida,’ Senators Rick Scott, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz introduced a resolution to call out the illegitimate communist Castro/Díaz-Canel regime for their brutal oppression, persecution and torture of Cubans. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart is leading the resolution in the House of Representatives with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul and Representatives Carlos Gimenez, Kat Cammack, María Elvira Salazar, Mike Waltz, Alex Mooney, Jenniffer González-Colón and Nicole Malliotakis. Read the full resolution HERE. Senator Rick Scott said, “Three years ago, the Communist Cuban regime was weakened as the people stood up to denounce the oppressive communist rule that has brought ruin to their nation for more than 60 years. Terrified by these demonstrations, the Castro/Diaz-Canel regime lashed out against these brave democracy activists and unjustly jailed thousands, including hundreds of children and peaceful, pro-democracy figures. We cannot forget those who remain incarcerated, like Jose Daniel Ferrer, Felix Navarro and his daughter Sayli Navarro, Carlos Michael and many others. Some, like Jose Daniel Ferrer, are at serious risk of death due to the regime’s torture and inhumane conditions. We will not cower to the oppression of the illegitimate communist Cuban regime. We know that a new day of freedom and democracy is closer than ever before in Cuba, and I stand proudly with the heroic democracy activists across the island who have taken to the streets determined to regain their freedom and put an end to the Castro/Diaz-Canel dictatorship. “Unfortunately, the Biden administration continues to fail the Cuban people and put the security of the United States at risk with weak appeasement of the regime. Just this year, we have seen Russian warships, including a nuclear-powered submarine, dock in Cuba while a Chinese spy base continues to grow on the island just 90 miles from Florida’s shores and threaten the security of Americans. All while President Biden wants to remove Cuba from the state sponsor of terrorism list. For decades, Cuba has been the root of instability in Latin America and represented a terrible threat to the national security of the United States. I urge the Biden administration to stand with the Cuban people, impose further sanctions on the tyrannical Cuban regime and help usher in a new day of freedom and stability in Latin America.” Read more HERE. In 2018, Congress passed the MISSION Act, which increased access to care for veterans by expanding their ability to be seen by health care providers in their communities. However, in recent months, VA leaders have been working to limit opportunities for community care for veterans. The senators wrote, “Congress has never failed to provide VA with the resources required to fulfill its mission. If you believe that VA lacks the funding to provide the level of access to care that veterans deserve in VA and in the community, it is incumbent on you to reprioritize resources from non-patient care areas and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse, not to unilaterally implement purported cost-savings measures that, even as an unintended consequence, decrease veteran choice and endanger veteran lives.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott Issues Statement on the Passing of Former Senator Jim Inhofe Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the passing of former Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe. Senator Rick Scott said, “Ann and I are keeping Kay, the Inhofe family and all who had the honor of working with Jim throughout his decades in public service in our prayers following the news of his passing. Jim was a good friend, a hard worker and a staunch advocate for our nation’s security and the people of Oklahoma. I had the opportunity to work with Jim closely during my first few years in the Senate on the Armed Services Committee – he was a natural leader and undoubtedly a brilliant one, always keeping our national defense and service members a top priority. He leaves behind a legacy of service that will continue to make a lasting, positive impact on the United States.” Read more HERE. — Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) to lead more than 150 of their colleagues in a letter to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan urging the Biden Administration to overturn its de facto electric mandate on trucks, tractors, buses and semis. The final rule, entitled “Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles – Phase 3,” was published on April 22, 2024. Read more HERE. — Ahead of June Jobs Report, Sen. Rick Scott Slams Biden’s Lies Ahead of the release of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ June jobs report, Senator Rick Scott released the following statement calling out the Biden administration for touting doctored jobs numbers and then quietly revising the data. Since President Biden took office, nearly every single jobs report has been revised down while his so-called “Bidenomics” agenda has bankrupted American families who are struggling to afford basic necessities like gas, rent and groceries with inflation that’s up 20% since January 2021. Senator Rick Scott said, “Ahead of this week’s jobs report, I want to make something very clear to Floridians: in this latest report the Biden administration will again try to spin the data and trick folks into thinking our economy is on the right track. Sadly it’s a lie. We want a strong economy and a great jobs market, but this administration has had to revise down nearly every single jobs report since Biden took office because his radical agenda is killing opportunity for American families. For example, the White House isn’t telling you that there are 100 million working age and able-bodied Americans who have abandoned the workforce because Democrat policies across the country are incentivizing government welfare programs over jobs and self-reliance. That’s terrible for our country. “Floridians are smart and know the truth, and they can feel the impacts of the Bidenomics agenda working against them. In previous months the only ‘job growth’ actually seen was folks taking on multiple part-time jobs because full-time jobs are disappearing as a result of Democrat policies which make it difficult for American companies to compete globally. That means that hardworking Americans cannot afford to buy necessities like gas and groceries on their current paychecks. Everywhere you look, American families are suffering more under Biden’s failed leadership and no amount of lies in the press or in White House press releases will change that sad reality for hardworking families. It has never been more clear that we need a big change in the White House because the Bidenomics agenda is one big failure after another. Florida families deserve better, and I am working hard every day to bring them the change they deserve.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott on CPI Report: Biden’s Failed Economy is Hurting Hardworking Americans Following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Senator Rick Scott released the below statement highlighting the need to implement substantive fiscal reforms to end the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by the Biden administration’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda. June’s CPI data shows that there has been a significant rise in inflation during Biden’s presidency, with CPI increasing 3% over the year in June 2024. Since Biden took office, inflation is up 20.1% with June marking the 39th consecutive month inflation is at or above 3%. Senator Rick Scott said, “While Democrats are just now waking up to Joe Biden’s clear incompetence, American families have been dealing with his Bidenomics disaster every time they’ve gone to the store and pump for the last three years. Inflation is up 20.1% since Biden took office, meaning his inability to lead isn’t just embarrassing for our country, it’s destructive and painful for the millions of American families that can’t keep up with his high prices and record inflation. Rick Scott on PPI Report: Biden is Clueless to the Suffering Caused by His Failed Agenda Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) highlighting the need to implement substantive fiscal reforms to end the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by the Biden administration’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda. June’s PPI data shows that there has been a significant rise in inflation during Biden’s presidency, with a 2.6% year-over-year increase in June. Since Biden took office, PPI inflation is up 19.8%. Senator Rick Scott said, “Joe Biden is clearly clueless to the suffering that Bidenomics and the high prices and record inflation it has caused are forcing on American families and small businesses. When war is raging around the world, U.S. debt is about to explode over $35 trillion, and PPI inflation has grown by 19.8% under Biden’s administration, having an incompetent president is not just disturbing; it’s dangerous. Americans know that Biden can’t fix the damage he’s done because he has totally lost his ability to lead our country and is wildly out of touch with reality. Whether it’s seniors coming out of retirement to pay bills, families skipping meals to save money, or people taking on multiple jobs just to survive, Biden has failed hardworking Americans in Florida and across the nation with a terrible Bidenomics agenda. It’s time for new leadership in the White House that will demand fiscal sanity with a balanced budget and finally end the reckless spending that is threatening to destroy our country.” Read more HERE. — Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Eric Schmitt in an effort to retake legislative authority from the Executive branch following the recent Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, which reinforced the separation of powers in the United States government and curbed the abuse of the administrative state by overruling the Court’s Chevron precedent. Read more about the effort in Fox News HERE. As part of this effort, Senator Scott, Senator Schmitt and their colleagues are establishing a Senate working group that will meet regularly to assess how the U.S. Senate can better operate and conduct administrative oversight following the decision in Loper Bright to prevent further abuses of power by rogue Executive agencies. As the first step, Senator Scott, Senator Schmitt and their colleagues are sending oversight letters to 101 agencies that have published over 50 final rules since the year 2000. In the letters, the Senators are seeking more information on ongoing rulemaking, civil enforcement actions, and adjudications by the agencies and how the Loper Bright decision impacts all of those actions moving forward, so that the Senators can better conduct oversight over those agencies. The Senators’ recent letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra can be found HERE. Senator Rick Scott said, “For too long, the Chevron Doctrine fueled an abandonment of our separation of powers by allowing the Executive to write and interpret the law as it saw fit. The recent Supreme Court decision reaffirmed the separation of powers and reinforced the constitutional roles played in our federal government: Congress writes the law, the Executive enforces the law, and the Judiciary interprets the law. I’m proud to join my colleagues in this effort to return power to the people through representative government.” Read more HERE. — Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Bill Hagerty, Representative Andy Biggs and their colleagues in demanding answers from U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) efforts to prevent aliens from registering to vote in American elections. This follows several recent reports revealing non-citizens registering to vote amid a record number of illegal border crossings. Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott Shares Weekly Update on Biden’s Inflation Crisis Senator Rick Scott released a weekly update on his actions to address America’s debt crisis and rising inflation. This week, reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the federal government’s key inflation indicators, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI), rose causing even more strain on the budgets of American families and small businesses. Since President Joe Biden took office, CPI inflation is up 20.1%, while PPI inflation has risen 19.8%. Earlier this week, following the CPI announcement, Senator Scott released the following statement. Senator Rick Scott said, “While Democrats are just now waking up to Joe Biden’s clear incompetence, American families have been dealing with his Bidenomics disaster every time they’ve gone to the store and pump for the last three years.
