Dear Fellow Floridian,

I’ve been in the United States Senate for four great years, and I’ve spent every day fighting hard to Make Washington Work for Florida families. While we’ve had some big wins, I’m not done yet.

This week, I kicked off my statewide tour to hear from YOU and learn how we can continue to Make Washington Work for our families, end the dysfunctional status quo that’s led to $31 TRILLION in fed debt and soaring inflation, and make sure every family has the opportunity to live the American dream.

So far, I have had the privilege of visiting with local law enforcement, community leaders, business owners, growers and farmers. I often say I cannot fix a problem I do not know about, so I am laser-focused on meeting with my fellow Floridians and learning how I can help YOU.

My travels are not done yet. To follow along, read more HERE. If you or someone you know needs help with casework or a federal agency, click HERE.

P.S. This week, I sent a survey to hear about what matters to YOU. Please click HERE if you would like to respond.

Sincerely,

Sen. Rick Scott Kicks Off Statewide ‘Make Washington Work Tour’ & Previews Priorities for 118th Congress

Senator Rick Scott kicked off his ‘Make Washington Work Tour’ to highlight what he is fighting for in the U.S. Senate for Florida families and previewed his legislative priorities for the 118th Congress. Over the next few weeks, Senator Scott will be traveling across the Sunshine State to hear from Florida leaders about how we can Make Washington Work for our families, end the dysfunctional status quo that’s led to $31 TRILLION in federal debt and soaring inflation, and make sure every family has the opportunity to live in a safe community, get a quality education and live the American dream.

Rosa María Payá, Cuban Freedom Activist and Founder of Cuba Decide; Admiral Peter Brown, Ret., United States Coast Guard; Irina Vilariño, Owner of Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine; Pastor Abraham Rivera of La Puerta Life Center; Catalina Stubbe of Director of Moms 4 Liberty; David Greenwell, Vice President of the Police Benevolent Association of South Florida and Sheriff Rick Ramsay of Monroe County Sheriff’s Office were also in attendance.

Senator Rick Scott said, “It was great to be in South Florida today with so many great Florida leaders to talk about our fight to Make Washington Work for Florida families. While we’ve secured some big wins for the Sunshine State during my first four years in the United States Senate, our work is far from over. Washington is more broken and dysfunctional than ever, and folks up in DC seem to have forgotten that the government is supposed to WORK FOR YOU. So, these next two years, I’ll be fighting even harder to Make Washington Work for ALL Floridians by ending the dysfunctional status quo, stopping the runaway reckless spending that’s fueling President Biden’s inflation crisis, making sure we SECURE THE BORDER and enforce our laws, and getting back to the basics of making sure every family has the opportunity to live in a safe community, send their child to a great school and get a great job so they can live their dreams. Floridians are tired of Washington’s waste and dysfunction, but together we can make Congress play by Florida’s rules and finally MAKE WASHINGTON WORK FOR THE SUNSHINE STATE.”

Sen. Rick Scott Hosts ‘Make Washington Work’ Roundtable on Border Security and Ending the Fentanyl Crisis with Florida Sheriffs and Volusia Recovery Alliance

Senator Rick Scott continued his ‘Make Washington Work Tour’ by hosting a roundtable at the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office with law enforcement and substance abuse recovery experts to discuss his fight to secure the southern border and end the deadly fentanyl crisis. Under President Biden’s failed agenda of amnesty and open borders, more than 5 million known migrants have illegally crossed the southern border and tons of deadly drugs, like fentanyl, have flooded into U.S. communities and taken more than 100,000 American lives in the last year alone.

Senator Scott was joined by Volusia County Sheriff Michael Chitwood, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma, Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly, Karen Chrapek, Executive Director of Volusia Recovery Alliance, Inc. and Maureen France, Board President of Volusia Recovery Alliance, Inc.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Over the last few years, the crisis at our southern border has grown exponentially worse, and it is impacting Floridians more than it ever has before. When I talk to law enforcement officers in Florida I hear again and again how hard their job has become thanks to Joe Biden’s radical open border policies. Unfortunately, every state is a border state right now, and Florida is really feeling the impacts right here in our own hometowns. It’s become so bad that Dry Tortugas National Park recently closed down because so many migrants landed there attempting to illegally enter the United States. At the southern border, the amount of drugs our law enforcement are intercepting is unbelievable. Last year alone, border agents captured enough deadly fentanyl to kill billions of people. Florida is an immigration state and we love legal immigration, but until we end this crisis and SECURE THE BORDER, communities all over Florida will continue to face the devastating impacts of illegal immigration and more deadly fentanyl in our communities. I’m committed to fighting for Floridians and forcing Joe Biden to end his open border policies. This new Congress, I look forward to passing my bills like The Upholding The Law at Our Border Act, the END FENTANYL Act and the STOP FENTANYL PACKAGE Act to secure the border and finally put an end to this deadly fentanyl crisis. I will not stop until our border is secure and Florida families and the communities they live in are safe.”

Sen. Rick Scott Demands Answers From State Workforce Agents on Fraudulent Disbursement of $45 Billion in Pandemic Unemployment Benefits

Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to state workforce agents demanding answers on their plans to mitigate waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars following an alarming report from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Inspector General (OIG) on the fraudulent disbursement of more than $45 billion in pandemic unemployment benefits. This letter is the latest of Senator Scott’s efforts to push for transparency and full accountability for all pandemic-related taxpayer funding. According to the DOL OIG, the $45 billion in fraudulently disbursed unemployment aid consisted of at least $139 million wrongly distributed to dead Americans and $267 million wrongly distributed to federal prisoners. A complete misuse of taxpayers’ funds.

Sen. Rick Scott Hosts ‘Make Washington Work’ Roundtable on Reining in D.C.’s Reckless Spending, Ending Raging Inflation in West Palm Beach

Senator Rick Scott continued his ‘Make Washington Work Tour’ and hosted a roundtable in West Palm Beach to hear directly from business leaders about the issues impacting them and discuss his actions to address the dangers of Washington’s out-of-control spending and the growing federal deficit, which are fueling a raging inflation crisis. As families in Florida and across America struggle to make ends meet with ever-rising prices, Senator Scott detailed his plans to unleash American energy, boost the U.S. economy and drive down costs for the American people after two years of President Biden’s raging inflation crisis.

Senator Scott was joined by Kelly Smallridge, President and CEO of Palm Beach County Business Development Board; Don Burgess President and CEO Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches; Troy McLellan, President and CEO of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce; Ken Lebersfeld, CEO of Capitol Lighting; Jacqueline Reeves, Managing Director of Bell Rock Capital, LLC; Noel Martinez, President and CEO of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce; Robert Diffenderfer, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches; Dr. Ava Parker, President of Palm Beach State College, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches; and Jimmy Johnson, Treasurer Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches.

Senator Rick Scott said, “For nearly two years, we’ve seen the devastating impact of total Democrat control in Washington and heard from countless families in Florida about the pain it’s causing them at home and in their businesses. Prices are up across the board nearly 14% since Joe Biden took office and his raging inflation is killing the American Dream for families in Florida and all across our country by putting financial stability out of reach. It’s time for Washington to do what every family and business does: live within its means. That’s why I’m fighting to make Congress balance the budget, start paying down our unsustainable $31 TRILLION in debt, cut taxes, promote job growth by cutting burdensome regulations, boost American energy independence and reduce inflation by stopping reckless government spending. That’s how we created success during my eight years as Governor of Florida, and I won’t stop fighting until we get it done in Washington.”
