Rubio Requests Billions for Hurricane Ian Recovery  
  • Senator Rubio released the details of his initial $33 billion major disaster supplemental request to lay the groundwork for Florida’s recovery following Hurricane Ian. 

Helping Florida Citrus Growers Post-Hurricane Ian
  • Senator Rubio attended Florida Citrus Mutual’s Annual Citrus Crop Estimate and toured the groves with U.S. Representatives Scott Franklin (R-FL) and Kat Cammack (R-FL) to survey the damage left by Hurricane Ian and discuss needed federal assistance. 

  • Senator Rubio outlined the aid Florida citrus growers and other Floridians need in his op-ed onRealClear Florida .

Opposing the VA’s Move to Providing Illegal Abortions
  • Senator Rubio and Senator James Lankford (R-OK) submitted a bicameral public comment letter urging the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to obey the law and rescind their Interim Final Rule that would allow the VA to provide abortions and abortion counseling up until the moment of birth. 

  • Senator Rubio and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) led a bipartisan Florida delegation in sending aletter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack in support of the State of Florida’s request to declare a Disaster for Florida counties that were impacted by Hurricane Ian, and to make assistance available to growers whose crops were damaged or destroyed. 

  • Senator Rubio and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona demanding clarity on the Department’s guidance on potentially granting student loan “refunds” to federal employees.
