This week, Senator Rick Scott hosted a roundtable discussion with Florida sheriffs and police chiefs at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the opioid epidemic and other issues facing Florida’s law enforcement community.

At the roundtable, Senator Scott announced his STOP FENTANYL PACKAGE Act. As the opioid epidemic and fentanyl crisis continue to be the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45, this six-pronged legislation provides state, local and federal agencies, in partnership with health care providers and first responders, much-needed tools and resources to combat this crisis and save lives.

When announcing the bill, Senator Rick Scott said, “For far too long, families in Florida and across America have suffered the pain and loss that comes with drug addiction and overdose. We have already lost hundreds of thousands of Americans to the opioid epidemic, but now this horrific crisis is being fueled at levels not seen before by massive amounts of deadly fentanyl flowing illegally over our southern border into our communities. The failed open border and amnesty policies implemented by President Joe Biden have only made this flow of illegal drugs worse and we must put an end to it. That’s why I am introducing the STOP FENTANYL PACKAGE Act. This legislation encourages coordination and partnership between our state, local and federal partners to help fight this crisis that is hurting so many people across the country. We need all hands on deck and every tool at our disposal to fight back against the lethal opioid epidemic so we can stop these completely preventable deaths and save lives.”

Sen. Rick Scott Pens Open Letter to Job Seekers: Don’t Work for Biden’s IRS Army

Senator Rick Scott released the below open letter to America’s job seekers outlining several factors they should consider before applying for a job with Biden’s soon-to-be supersized Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This month, Congressional Democrats passed a massive, partisan and reckless tax-and-spend bill which gives the IRS an additional $80 billion in taxpayer dollars and the authority to hire 87,000 new – mostly armed – IRS agents. Senator Scott first released this open letter to job seekers on his new LinkedIn account. Read more HERE.

Sen. Rick Scott: Senate Homeland Security Committee Must Investigate Hunter Biden

Senator Rick Scott wrote a letter to Senator Gary Peters, Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, requesting that the Committee immediately launch an investigation into the potential conflict of interest surrounding Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings and any influence or access promised to or gained by others to his father, President Joe Biden. Sen. Rick Scott and Roger Marshall Introduce Legislation to Prohibit Taxpayer Funded Abortions for Illegal Immigrants

Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. to introduce the No Taxpayer Funds for Illegal Alien Abortions Act to prohibit any employee or contractor with U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) or the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) from transporting any illegal immigrant across state lines for the purpose of procuring an abortion.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Taxpayers should never be on the hook to pay for abortions, and the thought of forcing Americans to foot the bill for transportation so illegal immigrants can get abortions is horrific. Just when you think that the Biden administration couldn’t get any more radical, it doubles down by pairing its failed open borders policies with its extreme anti-life agenda. I’m proud to join Senator Marshall and our colleagues in introducing this good bill to protect the unborn and prevent this gross misuse of taxpayer dollars.”

Joining Senators Rick Scott and Roger Marshall legislation are Senators Marsha Blackburn (TN), Mike Braun (IN), Steve Daines (MT), Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS), James Inhofe (OK), James Lankford (OK), Mike Lee (UT) and Roger Wicker (MS). Read more from Senator Marshall’s office HERE.

Sen. Rick Scott Hosts Roundtable Discussion with Tampa Area Sheriffs & Police Chiefs in Pinellas County

Senator Rick Scott hosted a roundtable discussion with Florida sheriffs and police chiefs at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the opioid epidemic and other issues facing Florida’s law enforcement community.

At the roundtable, Senator Scott announced his STOP FENTANYL PACKAGE Act, a six-pronged bill that provides state, local and federal agencies, in partnership with health care providers and first responders, much-needed tools and resources to combat this crisis and save lives.

Senator Rick Scott said, “As Florida’s Governor and U.S. Senator, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Florida’s law enforcement officers to make sure they have every resource needed to keep our families safe. The destruction and loss seen in our communities due to America’s raging opioid epidemic is only growing worse as the crisis created by President Biden’s failed policies on our southern border continues. Florida’s law enforcement is on the front lines of this crisis. I was proud to be in Pinellas County today with some of our great sheriffs and police chiefs to discuss their efforts to combat the opioid epidemic and announce the introduction of my new bill, the STOP FENTANYL PACKAGE Act. I’ll always stand with our brave law enforcement officers and never stop fighting to support the dangerous work they do to keep us safe.” Read more HERE.

Sen. Rick Scott Hosts Roundtable on Impact of Inflation and Supply Chain Crises on Central Florida Businesses

Senator Rick Scott hosted a roundtable with community and business leaders about the negative impacts of America’s raging inflation and supply chain crises on small businesses in Central Florida.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Today, while I was in Orlando hearing from small business owners that are struggling to deal with raging inflation, President Biden was signing into law yet another reckless, partisan tax-and-spending spree that will only push prices higher. Joe Biden’s raging inflation crisis has created a new tax on Florida families and business owners, and that tax is rising nearly every month. In Washington, I’m doing everything I can to stop the reckless spending that is wasting Floridians’ tax dollars, fueling inflation and cutting regulations that raise the cost of doing business. Floridians deserve better and I won’t stop fighting to lower prices.” Read more HERE.

Sen. Rick Scott Tours K-9s For Warriors Facility in Ponte Vedra Beach

Senator Rick Scott visited K-9s for Warriors in Ponte Vedra Beach to tour the organization’s facility and thank the volunteers and leadership for their efforts to support our American heroes. K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and other trauma.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I was proud to visit K9s for Warriors today, an incredible organization with great leadership and volunteers who are fully committed to helping our veterans, especially those suffering from PTSD, transition to civilian life with the support of professionally-trained service dogs. Our veterans truly represent the best of what it means to be an American and none of the opportunities and freedoms we have would be possible without the dedicated service of these brave heroes. As Governor and now as U.S. Senator, I’m committed to making sure Florida is the most military and veteran friendly state in the nation, and organizations like K-9s for Warriors are helping us accomplish this goal by serving those who have so selflessly served our nation.” Read more HERE.

Sen. Rick Scott Recognizes Commissioner Sosa; Holds Roundtable Discussion with Colombian Community Leaders in Doral

Senator Rick Scott held a roundtable discussion with Representatives Carlos Giménez and María Elvira Salazar, as well as Colombian business and community leaders in Doral to discuss Colombia’s future under Gustavo Petro, the Senator’s continued support for the Colombian community and his efforts to bring freedom and democracy to Latin America.

Prior to the roundtable, Senator Scott recognized Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa for her decades in public service and incredible efforts to represent her community.

Senator Rick Scott said, “The United States and Colombia share a commitment to promoting security, prosperity, human rights and democracy across the Western Hemisphere. For decades, Colombia has been our greatest democratic ally in Latin America and a partner in combatting drug trafficking. But now that Gustavo Petro is the President of Colombia, I am very concerned about the future of the democracy and the stability of Colombia, and the region. Sadly, Joe Biden – the man who is supposed to be leader of the free world – is nowhere to be found. Unlike Joe Biden, I will never turn my back on the people of Colombia, or Latin America. And I am proud to stand with Colombia in the fight to defend freedom and democracy.” Read more HERE.
